A Day in the Life of Kelly-Fradet Team Member Kyle Hoover

We sat down with Kyle Hoover, one of the dedicated team members at Kelly-Fradet Lumber, to get a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day looks like—and to help answer some of the most common questions customers have about working with us.

Whether you’re a contractor picking up materials, or a homeowner planning your next project, Kyle shares what you can expect when you walk through the doors of one of Kelly-Fradet’s four locations.

Q: Kyle, how would you describe your role at Kelly-Fradet?

A: I’m part of the inside sales and service team, so I’m often one of the first people a customer interacts with when they walk in or call. I help answer questions, provide quotes, track down materials, and coordinate deliveries. Every day here at Kelly-Fradet looks a little different, but the goal is always the same-make sure our customers have what they need to get the job done.

Q: What’s a typical day like for you?

A: It starts early! We’re usually busy from the minute the doors open. Contractors stop in to grab materials for the day, and we help them get loaded and back on the road quickly. Throughout the day, we’re answering calls, preparing orders, restocking products, and helping walk-in customers find exactly what they need—whether that’s a single board or a full deck package.

Q: What services can customers expect on-site at Kelly-Fradet?

A: A lot more than most people realize! Each location has a full-service lumberyard, contractor sales desk, and hardware store. We also offer blueprint / material estimating, product guidance, special ordering, and jobsite delivery service. Plus, we’re here to answer questions—no matter how big or small the project.

Q: What makes Kelly-Fradet different from a big box store?

A: We build relationships. A lot of our customers have been coming here for years. We know them by name, and what kind of work they do. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting a home renovation, we take the time to make sure you’re getting the right materials and advice. It’s not just about selling-it’s about supporting.

Q: What are some of the most common questions you get from customers?

A: Probably, “Do you carry this?”-and the answer is usually yes! And if we don’t have something in stock, we can often special order it quickly. Another big one is, “Can you help me figure out what I need for my project?” Absolutely-we do that all the time. We’ll look at your plans, help estimate materials, and even suggest alternatives if something’s out of stock.

Q: What’s one thing new customers should know before visiting Kelly-Fradet?

A: You don’t have to be a contractor, or know exactly what you want, in order to shop here. We help homeowners every day-whether it’s picking out new windows, ordering trim, or getting advice on decking options. Just walk in, and someone will help you. It’s that simple.

Q: What keeps you motivated every day?

A: I like being part of the customer’s process, and knowing I helped them along the way. There’s something rewarding about knowing the materials you helped put together are turning into someone’s home, deck, or dream kitchen. We’re not just moving lumber-we’re helping people build things that last.
